Captain Ivan Back in Action Tonight

We send just the one runner to Market Rasen today, with Captain Ivan lining up in the 6.23 under Brendan Powell.

He picked up a knock on his last outing and, with the way that race was run not really suiting him, we’ve given him a bit of time to freshen up. He’s been in good order at home and comes here well in himself.

Today’s trip is on the sharp side for him, which isn’t ideal, but we’ve applied blinkers to help sharpen him up. He can be keen in his work at home yet tends to relax once on the track, so hopefully the blinkers will just help him travel with a bit more purpose – as they have been doing on the gallops.

On paper, this looks a winnable race if he can overcome the trip. He’s fit, well, and moving nicely at home, so we’re hopeful he can be right in the mix at the finish.
