Ewan Whillans Racing — Runners Preview

We have four runners today across Ayr Racecourse and Wolverhampton Racecourse, with several horses building toward upcoming finals targets. Here’s the latest from the yard.

Blakey Boy

1.50 Ayr — ridden by Craig Nichol

Blakey Boy returns with conditions very much on the team’s mind. He has a preference for better ground and, with an eye on the finals, today’s priority is a smooth, confidence-building run. He tries his heart out every time, but after bleeding on his last start he has been carefully managed and trained a little differently at home.

If he finds himself in contention, Craig will certainly look to be competitive; otherwise the focus will be on looking after him and letting him get into a nice rhythm. If he travels kindly and settles into his work, connections hope he can show up when it matters most in the closing stages.

Nellie Bluesky

4.00 Ayr — ridden by Craig Nichol

Nellie Bluesky arrives in very good form at home, though underfoot conditions are again a slight concern. Like Blakey Boy, she also has a finals target on the horizon, so today’s run is part of that wider plan.

Her latest performance at Sedgefield was highly encouraging, and if she can build on that effort she should give a strong account of herself. It may take a determined effort in these conditions, but the ability is clearly there.

Ramon Di Loria

6.00 Wolverhampton — ridden by Greg Fairley

Ramon Di Loria drops back to seven furlongs today, a move expected to suit based on the data from his most recent run, where he finished his race off strongly. He has enjoyed an excellent winter campaign and remains in good heart.

Pace will be the key factor. If the race is run at a solid tempo, he has the profile of a horse who can finish powerfully and make his presence felt late on.

Millbuie

8.00 Wolverhampton — ridden by Greg Fairley

Millbuie found the trip stretching him slightly last time, but today’s conditions and track layout are expected to play more to his strengths. If he jumps cleanly and holds a prominent early position, he has every chance of being among the leaders turning for home and involved at the business end.

Best of luck to all connections and to everyone attending today’s racing.
