Today’s Runners – Sedgefield & Newcastle

We head into today with two runners, both offering us a chance to learn a bit more about where they’re at and what the future might hold.

My Boy Cristy

📍 Sedgefield – 3:43pm

🏇 Craig Nichol

My Boy Cristy makes his first start for us today, and this run is very much about education and getting to know the horse in a race situation. He hasn’t been with us long at all, but since arriving he’s been doing plenty right at home.

He previously ran well in a maiden, and while he’ll undoubtedly come on a lot for this outing, there have been flashes in his work that suggest there’s ability there. Today should tell us more about his attitude, his racing manners, and what sort of level he might be capable of in time. If he can show a few encouraging signs and pick things up late, that would be a solid starting point for us.

Team Player

📍 Newcastle – 3:57pm

🏇 Greg Fairley

Team Player was purchased with a view to going juvenile hurdling, and he’s been shaping nicely at home as we build towards that longer-term plan. He doesn’t want much cut in the ground, so conditions today aren’t ideal, but we’ve kept him ticking over on the Flat and tried to arrive here with him fresh and well.

The trip is a bit of an unknown, and while he should be fit enough to do himself justice, this is very much a stepping-stone run. Whatever he does today, he’ll improve for the experience. A finish in the first four or five would be very encouraging, and anything better than that would be a real bonus as we look ahead to his hurdling career.

All in all, today is about learning, progression, and taking positives forward. Both horses should come on plenty for the run, and we’re hopeful they can give a good account of themselves. Fingers crossed for a smooth afternoon and plenty to build on 🤞🏇
