Ewan Whillans Racing: Today’s Runners – November 18th

It’s a busy day for Ewan Whillans Racing, with five runners out across Kelso and Newcastle. Here’s a closer look at each runner, their chances, and what we’re hoping to see on the track today:

Topkapi Star – 12.55 Kelso – Jockey: Peter Kavanagh

Topkapi Star is a horse who can be a bit tricky at times – she likes to do things her own way! She may need the run today to get back into rhythm. If she’s in the mood, we’d expect her to finish around mid-division. This is more about giving her a good tune-up and seeing how she comes out of it.

Blakey Boy – 1.25 Kelso – Jockey: Craig Nichol

Blakey Boy is stepping up to bigger fences for the first time. He’d ideally prefer a little firmer ground, but he’s a horse that benefits from experience over hurdles. Today, we’re looking for a clean round, good jumping, and a strong finish – it’s all about building confidence and experience at this stage.

Billy Bathgate – 3.45 Newcastle – Jockey: Dougie Costello

Billy Bathgate loves this track and has been working well at home. He faces a competitive field today, but the pace of the race should suit him. We’re hoping he can settle well and run to his ability – it’s all about seeing him put in a solid, confident performance.

Back Tomorrow – 6.45 Newcastle – Jockey: Greg Fairley

Back Tomorrow is a horse that can be a little tricky out of the gates, but if he can get away cleanly, he has a good chance in what looks to be a competitive race. Our focus is on improving his gate performance and letting him put his best foot forward.

Ramon Di Loria – 7.15 Newcastle – Jockey: Dougie Costello

Ramon Di Loria has been a little disappointing recently, but today he drops down to a Class 6, which should suit him better. Top weight might make it tough to win, but the plan is for him to run his race and give his best effort – we’re optimistic for a solid performance.

We wish the very best of luck to all our connections today! Keep up with the action and live updates on our socials and website – we’ll be sharing how all our runners get on throughout the day.
