Raceday Preview: Luminaries Heads to Southwell

We’re back in action today with just the one runner, as Luminaries represents Ewan Whillans Racing in the 1:15 at Southwell, partnered by the experienced Sean Quinlan.

As we move deeper into the season, conditions are very much what you’d expect for this time of year. The ground remains on the softer side following recent weather, and although we’re hoping it may dry out slightly before post time, this is likely the best surface we’ll see today. That said, Luminaries has shown he can handle a bit of cut, so we’re not going in with any concerns on that front.

Recent Form & Today’s Chances

Luminaries produced a respectable effort last time out, travelling well for a long way before just losing his stride late in the contest. There was plenty of encouragement to take from that performance, particularly in the way he jumped and settled through the early stages.

If he can replicate that early rhythm and put together a clean round of jumping, he certainly has place claims in this field. On paper, there are a couple of rivals who may improve for the run or arrive sharper today, but we feel Luminaries has enough natural ability to stay competitive throughout.

With Sean Quinlan back onboard, we’re hopeful he can get the best out of him. Sean knows the horse, knows how to ride Southwell, and if everything falls into place, we should see Luminaries give a solid account of himself.

Good Luck to All Connections
