Kelso Preview: Experience and Opportunity
It’s a three-runner team for Ewan Whillans at Kelso this afternoon, and while they all come with slightly different profiles, there’s plenty of interest across the board.
GEORGIE’S MALT
4:00 – Callum Bewley
Georgie’s Malt will be looking to leave her last run behind, having put in a slightly disappointing effort where she never really travelled and may not have been at her best. It’s probably a run best forgiven. Today presents a new test with the step up in trip, which adds a bit of uncertainty, but there’s hope it could unlock some improvement. She’ll be ridden to stay, and if settling into a better rhythm, she’s capable of putting in a much more encouraging performance.
MORTGAGE MAN
5:32 – Peter Kavanagh
Mortgage Man makes his racecourse debut here and has been shaping nicely at home in the lead-up to this. He’s had the benefit of a racecourse gallop, which should help, but this is very much his introduction to racing. As with any first run, there may be a touch of greenness, but the main aim will be to gain experience and show enough to build on for the future.
OFFICE BANTER
5:32 – Callum Bewley
Office Banter also lines up for his first outing and mirrors a similar profile to his stablemate. He’s been going well at home and has taken in a racecourse gallop, so should have a fair idea of what’s required, although race conditions will be a different test altogether. This is very much a learning curve, but he’s one to watch for signs of promise as he begins his racing career.
Best of luck to all connections.
