Kelso Runner – Star of Guiting

We head to Kelso today with one runner, Star of Guiting, who lines up in the 3:20 with Craig Nichol taking the ride.

This outing is very much a fact-finding mission to see where we stand with him at this stage. He’s shown a bit of spark at home but hasn’t done a great deal of serious work yet, so we’re keen to learn more about his attitude and how he handles the race environment.

Star of Guiting can be a little on the keen side, so the plan will be to settle him in behind the field early on and get him switched off into a nice rhythm. The key today is education—helping him relax, finish his race strongly, and gain valuable experience for the season ahead.

He’s a naturally buzzy character, so we’ve taken things steadily with him in training to keep a lid on his enthusiasm. If he finishes off his race well and manages to get amongst the placings, it would be a real bonus at this stage of his development.
