Three Runners for Ewan Whillans Racing

A busy day ahead for the team as we send out three runners, with two heading to Perth and one making the trip to Newcastle later this evening. It’s great to see the yard getting back into full swing, and we’re looking forward to seeing how each of them shapes up after their respective breaks.

Topkapi Star – 4:40 Perth

Jockey: Peter Kavanagh

Topkapi Star returns to action after a break and should naturally improve for the run. She’s been training well at home, and although this trip may be on the short side, it looks an ideal starting point for her campaign. She’s shown before that she can go well fresh — notably winning at Sedgefield last year after a break — so a strong run wouldn’t come as a surprise if she’s fit enough on the day.

Blakey Boy – 5:15 Perth

Jockey: Craig Nichol

Like Topkapi Star, Blakey Boy is another coming back from a short break and should tighten up for the run. Earlier in the year, he showed some promising form that would put him right in the mix if he can recapture it. Today’s race will be a good opportunity to get him back on track, and we’ll likely see him go chasing a bit later in the season. Expect improvement with this outing under his belt.

Back Tomorrow – 8:30 Newcastle

Jockey: Amie Waugh

Our final runner of the day heads to the All-Weather at Newcastle. Back Tomorrow has had a short break and will be looking to build on her previous consistent form. She’s been a little slower away than usual in her recent starts, but if she can break on terms and find her rhythm, she should travel well into the race. The plan is to keep her ticking over through the winter and hopefully target some of the All-Weather Bonus opportunities again, just as she did successfully last season.

Good luck to all connections and everyone involved today! As always, we’ll have live updates and behind-the-scenes content across our social media channels, so make sure to follow along for all the latest news.

Also, keep an eye out for our recent stable tour with Tote, which will be available to view on our website in the coming days.
