My Boy Christy Aims to Bounce Back at Hexham
My Boy Christy heads to Hexham for the 4:30pm, and there are reasons to be hopeful of a much-improved showing this time around.
He’s been pleasing the team at home in recent weeks, with his work suggesting he’s in good order and ready to put his best foot forward. Things didn’t quite go to plan for him last season, which was a disappointment given the promise he had been showing, but he looks to have matured and strengthened since then.
Connections have opted to step him up in trip here, which could prove a key factor. On pedigree and the way he’s been finishing off his work at home, there’s a feeling that this extra distance may bring about some improvement. In addition, cheekpieces are fitted for the first time in an effort to sharpen his focus and help him travel more kindly through the race.
While this does look a competitive contest on paper, there’s quiet optimism that My Boy Christy can leave last year’s efforts behind him and show a better level of form. If the new trip and headgear have the desired effect, he’s capable of putting in a much more encouraging performance.
