Newcastle Runner Preview – Luminaries (2.35pm)
We have one runner today at Newcastle, with Luminaries lining up in the 2.35pm in his first run for Ewan Whillans Racing Club . He’ll be partnered by Patrick Wedge, who knows the horse well and takes the ride this afternoon.
Luminaries has been in good form at home and has been holding his condition well. He’s always been more of a summer horse than a winter one, but I’m happy enough with conditions today and the ground shouldn’t be an issue for him.
Today he will take his chance. He’s done plenty right in his work, and if he can put that together on the track, I’d be delighted to see him finish in the first three. Anything beyond that would be a real bonus for everyone involved.
Whatever the result today, the plan is for Luminaries to have a break after this run. He’s earned a bit of time off, and we’ll look to bring him back later in the year when the better ground arrives and conditions are more in his favour.
Best of luck to all members of the club — let’s hope for a big run at Newcastle.
