One Runner for Ewan Whillans at Ayr Today

Today we head to Ayr for the Festival meeting with just the one runner, Ebony Maw, who will be partnered by Jason Hart. This horse has always shown a particular liking for Ayr, and it’s a track where he tends to give his best. The ground may not be quite as soft as he ideally prefers, but it’s still within his comfort zone and should suit well enough.

The race has attracted a strong field, as you’d expect at the Festival, so it looks a competitive contest. However, Jason knows Ebony Maw well, and after riding him previously he suggested trying blinkers – something we’re fitting for the first time today in the hope it sharpens him up and brings out that little bit extra.

While it won’t be an easy assignment against this opposition, we’re hopeful that conditions, the course, and the fitting of new headgear can help him produce a solid performance. If things go right, we’d be optimistic of him getting involved at the business end and at least challenging for the placings.
