Runners at Musselburgh Today – Ewan Whillans Racing

We head to Musselburgh this afternoon with two runners, starting with Sure And Stedfast in the 2:25, partnered by Joanna Mason, and followed by Ebony Maw in the 4:03, with Jason Hart taking the ride.

2:25 – Sure And Stedfast (Joanna Mason)

Sure And Stedfast has had a good season and has been a consistent performer for the yard. Today he steps up in trip, which we hope will play to his strengths. The ground is a little bit of an unknown factor, but on pedigree and how he’s shaped in his races, we’d be confident he will stay the distance. He’ll be ridden to get into a good rhythm and to ensure he sees out the trip properly.

This could potentially be his final run of the season, depending on how he comes out of today. There is the option of going to the all-weather next, but that decision will be made after his race and how he takes it. It looks a competitive contest on paper, but we believe he’s capable of running well again, and a place finish should be within reach if everything falls right.

4:03 – Ebony Maw (Jason Hart)

Ebony Maw returns to Musselburgh after a disappointing effort here last time. We’ve since discovered a couple of small issues that may have contributed to that performance, and we’re hopeful he can show more of what he’s capable of today. He’s been well at home, moving soundly, and seems in good order.

The key today will be how he handles the track — if he gets into a rhythm and travels smoothly, he should be able to put himself in the race. On his best form, he has an each-way chance, and we’d like to see him bounce back and find a bit more spark.

As always, best of luck to all connections, riders, and everyone attending today.

Safe runs and hopefully some positive results for the team. 🐎💚
