Thoughts on Today’s Runners at Hamilton
We head to Hamilton today with three runners on the card, and while the weather hasn’t quite played into our hands, we’re hopeful of some solid efforts across the evening.
5.45 – Ebony Maw
Jockey: Mr Matt Brown
Ebony Maw kicks things off for us in the opener. Ideally, we’d have preferred a bit more rain as he’s best with some cut in the ground. That said, it’s safe ground and he does go well here – while he hasn’t won at Hamilton yet, he’s produced some strong performances. It’s an amateur riders’ race, and they can be quite unpredictable, but he’s been working well at home and will take his chance. There’s a race at Ayr coming up that we’ve got our eye on – a track he absolutely loves – but hopefully he can run well and maybe nick a place here first.
6.45 – Pinpoint
Jockey: Shane Gray
Pinpoint was a bit disappointing last weekend – perhaps the trip stretched him, but opportunities for him have been limited. We’ve dropped him back to 5 furlongs today and fitted blinkers to sharpen him up, as he just looked a bit uninterested last time out. It’s a low-grade contest and it’ll really depend which version of him turns up – he’s more than capable on his day, but with a temperament like his, we’ll know a lot more once the gates open.
8.45 – Ramon Di Loria
Jockey: Callum Rodriguez
Ramon Di Loria goes in the finale and has been in good form at home. Like Ebony Maw, he hasn’t managed a win at Hamilton yet but has some really decent efforts here. The favourite looks a strong one with the 3yo allowance giving them a big edge, and Jim Goldie’s runners are always worth watching at this track. If Ramon runs to the level we know he can, we’d be hopeful of a place and, with a bit of luck, maybe even getting his head in front.
Best of luck to all involved – we’ll be keeping you updated throughout the evening on our socials, so stay tuned!
