Three Runners for the team at Ayr – 14 July
Today we send three runners to the track at Ayr Racecourse. It’s always a thrill to have multiple club horses in action, and with conditions looking favourable, we’re hopeful for a positive afternoon. Here’s a look at the team lining up:
🏇 Ramon Di Loria – 3:10 Ayr
Jockey: Jason Hart
Owner: Ewan Whillans Racing Club
Ramon Di Loria is a horse who knows his way around Ayr. A two-time course and distance winner, he’s shown a real liking for the track and continues to go well at home. His most recent outing was solid, even if not spectacular, and we’re quietly confident he can bounce back to form.
The race features a strong favourite who won impressively last time out, so it won’t be easy, but Jason Hart is back on board—a jockey who has won on Ramon before and knows exactly how to get the best out of him. With a genuine gallop and the race run to suit, we’re hopeful Ramon can put in a big run and do the club proud.
🏇 Sure And Steadfast – 4:40 Ayr
Jockey: Joanna Mason
Owner: Mrs Karen Spark
Sure And Steadfast returns quickly after a slightly frustrating run last week, where the race didn’t unfold in his favour. There wasn’t enough early pace, and when the gap eventually opened up, it was too late to mount a challenge.
Today, the aim will be to get him handy early on, and we’re hoping Joanna can produce a well-timed late run from a good position near the front. If things fall right, there’s every chance he can sneak into the placings. He’s a consistent horse and deserves a bit of luck.
🏇 Stand Strong – 5:10 Ayr
Jockey: Cian Horgan
Owners: A. Whillans, W. Orr, C. Spark & J. Wright
Stand Strong was unlucky last time out when he didn’t get a clear run, but his run before that was very encouraging, finishing second in a strong race. He’s been in great form at home and, if building on that second-place effort, could go close again today.
The ground will be a key factor—he’s had a tendon injury in the past, so we won’t take any chances. If conditions are safe and the ground is good or better, he’ll take his chance. If not, he has other entries later this week. That said, Ayr should suit his style, and we’re optimistic he can put in a competitive effort.
Looking Ahead
Best of luck to all our connections, jockeys, and owners involved. Let’s hope we can get off the mark soon and make it a memorable day for everyone involved with the club.
