A fantastic result today for Ewan Whillans Racing as Sure And Steadfast claimed victory in the 4.40 at Ayr, delivering a thrilling finish under a perfectly judged ride from Joanna Mason.

As predicted in our earlier blog, the gelding was held towards the rear but always travelled smoothly, keeping tabs on the leaders. With over two furlongs to go, Joanna made a bold move around the outside, launching a well-timed challenge that saw Sure And Steadfast sweep past rivals and take the lead inside the final furlong.

There was a strong challenge late on, but he dug deep—living up to his name—and just did enough to hold on at the line. A brilliant tactical ride, combined with a well-executed game plan, made all the difference.
