Three Runners Represent Ewan Whillans Racing Today

It’s another busy and exciting day for the yard as we send out three runners across Ayr and Newcastle. The team have been working hard at home, and we’re looking forward to seeing all three horses back on the track. As always, we’re grateful for the continued support of our owners and connections — and we wish everyone the very best of luck today.

Below are Ewan’s thoughts on each of the runners:

Glenville – 12:48 Ayr

Jockey: Craig Nichol

Glenville makes his first start of the season today. He’s a horse we’ve always liked, and while he unfortunately came down last time out, that hasn’t dented our confidence in him. The main aim today is to give him a safe and confidence-boosting round of jumping.

Craig will look after him, get him into a good rhythm, and let him build back up to his best. Anything from mid-division onwards would be a pleasing result at this stage. Our horses usually come on for their first run back, so we’re hoping he can finish well up the straight and give us a nice platform to work from moving forward.

Hold The Note – 1:23 Ayr

Jockey: Theo Gillard

Hold The Note also returns for his seasonal debut. He’s a talented horse but can be a bit of a character at times — he likes to keep us on our toes! The plan is to give him a few more runs under rules to see where we stand before potentially heading into point-to-pointing later in the season.

He’ll be given every chance to show his ability today, and we’re just hoping for a smooth, positive performance to start his campaign. If he settles and enjoys himself, he should run a fair race.

Royal Blaze – 3:25 Newcastle

Jockey: Jason Hart

Royal Blaze heads to Newcastle and looks to be our best chance of the day. Things didn’t quite go his way last time — the race turned into a slow-run affair that developed into a sprint, which didn’t suit his style.

We’re hoping for a more strongly run race this time, which should allow him to travel comfortably and use his finishing kick to greater effect. He goes there in good form at home and, with conditions to suit, we’re optimistic he can show his true ability and put in a big performance.

Final Thoughts

We’re pleased to have three solid representatives on track today, each at different stages of their campaigns. The team at home have been working tirelessly to get the horses ready for their runs, and we’re hopeful of some encouraging performances to build on as the season progresses.

Good luck to all our owners, riders, and everyone connected with the yard. Your support is always appreciated.
