🏇 Newcastle Preview – Luminaries & Cracking Destiny in Action
It’s another busy afternoon for Ewan Whillans Racing as we head to Newcastle with two runners — Luminaries and Cracking Destiny. Both horses arrive in good order, and we’re looking forward to what should be a great day’s racing.
1:58 – Luminaries (Sean Quinlan)
First up, we have Luminaries, who lines up under Sean Quinlan.
He’s a horse who has been gaining experience with each run, and we’ve been happy with his attitude and progression at home. Today’s track and ground conditions should play to his strengths, and with a small field, it gives him every chance to get into a nice rhythm and finish off well.
The plan will be to ride him to finish his race strongly, and hopefully he can run into the placings with a solid, confident performance. It’s all about continuing his development and building on what he’s learned so far.
3:08 – Cracking Destiny (Craig Nichol)
Later on the card, we have Cracking Destiny, who will be partnered by Craig Nichol.
This will be his final run before retirement, and it’s a special day for everyone connected to him. He’s been a fantastic horse for the yard over the years — always giving his all and providing plenty of memorable days for his owners and the team.
On paper, it’s not the strongest of races, and we’ve fitted the cheekpieces to help sharpen him up and keep him interested. The trip and track both look ideal, so we’re hopeful he can be competitive and, with a bit of luck, go out on a high note.
Final Thoughts
It’s great to have a couple of nice chances on the card today at Newcastle. Luminaries continues to learn and improve, while Cracking Destiny bows out after a brilliant career — and everyone would love to see him finish with a big run.
Best of luck to all connections, owners, and riders today, and thank you to everyone supporting the team.
We’ll have live updates, photos, and reactions throughout the day across our social media channels, so be sure to follow along and join us for all the action from the track.
