Two Runners for the Team at Newcastle Tonight

It’s a busy afternoon for the team at Newcastle with two runners heading to the Tapeta, both looking to build on their recent efforts.

MILLBUIE

4.28 Newcastle

Jockey: Rowan Scott

Millbuie returns to the track after another slightly frustrating but ultimately encouraging run last time out. The gelding hasn’t always helped himself at the start, often being slow from the stalls, and that was again the case on his most recent outing.

Despite that early setback, he made up plenty of ground through the race and finished in a respectable position, showing that the ability is certainly there when things fall right for him. If he can break a little sharper today and find himself sitting in mid-division rather than playing catch-up, he would give himself every chance of being competitive.

The surface and track at Newcastle should suit, and with a bit of luck from the gates he could easily be involved at the business end.

DESERT QUEST

5.08 Newcastle

Jockey: Grey Fairley

Desert Quest continues his gradual return to racing following a spell on the sidelines through injury. His most recent outing was very much a reintroduction after time away, and he was entitled to need the run as he worked his way back towards peak fitness.

The plan is to bring him along steadily, allowing his condition to improve with each appearance. He may still feel the effects of the layoff today and could get a little tired in the closing stages, but the main objective is continued progress.

If he can travel comfortably and take another step forward from his last run, he may be able to tag onto the race late and give himself a chance if things fall his way.

Best of luck to all connections and supporters today.
