Billy Bathgate Gets His Head in Front!
We were hopeful this morning that Billy Bathgate was ready to run a big race—and he didn’t let us down.
After a steadied start, he settled at the rear and travelled strongly throughout. Rowan Scott gave him an ice-cool, patient ride, gradually making headway from three furlongs out. As the race unfolded, Billy responded generously, looming up to challenge with two furlongs to go. Inside the final furlong, Rowan asked for more—and Billy dug deep, staying on powerfully to hit the front in the final 110 yards and win by a neck.
A well-deserved victory and a big well done to all connections. He’s been threatening to get his head in front and showed great attitude to finish the job today.
Elsewhere, we were pleased with Pinpoint, who finished 6th at Ayr. He travelled midfield for much of the race and looked like he’d improve for the run. It’s a track he knows well, and we expect him to come forward next time out with that under his belt.
A great day for the yard—well done to all involved!
