Carlisle Runners Preview – Ramon Di Loria & Stand Strong
We head to Carlisle today with two runners on the card, both bringing their own reasons for optimism as we look for a positive afternoon.
Ramon Di Loria – 2:10 Carlisle
Jockey: Greg Fairley
Owners: Ewan Whillans Racing Club
Ramon Di Loria lines up in the 2:10 having come out of his latest run in good order. That outing should have put him spot on, and importantly he returns to a track he enjoys, which could play a key role in his performance.
The race setup will be crucial for him — he’s a horse who benefits from a solid gallop to aim at, allowing him to settle and use his strengths late on. If the pace unfolds as hoped, we’d expect to see him finishing his race strongly in the closing stages. With conditions likely to suit better this time around, there’s every chance he can take a step forward from his last run.
Stand Strong – 3:20 Carlisle
Jockey: Aiden Brookes
Owners: A Whillans, CSpark, J Wright
Stand Strong goes to post in the 3:20 and should come on significantly for his recent reappearance, where he shaped as though the run was needed. Since then, he’s been showing encouraging signs at home, and we’re hopeful he can translate that into a competitive performance on track.
While a slightly longer trip would likely play more to his strengths, today’s conditions should still suit well enough. If he can reproduce the level of form he’s been showing at home, he has every chance of getting involved and being competitive in the latter stages.
Summary
Both runners head into their races in good shape, and while each will need things to fall their way, there are solid reasons to be hopeful of two strong performances.
Best of luck to all connections involved.
