Cracking Destiny Rolls Back the Years to Land Hexham Victory

It’s been a brilliant weekend for the yard, as Cracking Destiny stormed home to give us our second winner in as many days, delivering a gutsy performance in the 4:25 at Hexham under the experienced hands of Craig Nichol.

The race didn’t start smoothly—Cracking Destiny was hampered at the first fence, which turned out to be just the beginning of what developed into a very messy contest. He didn’t jump with his usual fluency early on and dropped to the back of the field. But credit to Craig for keeping a cool head; he sat quietly, allowed the race to unfold, and gave the horse every chance to find his rhythm.

Just before the ninth fence, one of the market leaders slipped and brought down another rival, which also hindered our momentum. But that’s when Craig began to nudge Cracking Destiny into contention. Fence by fence, he made up ground—climbing the steep Hexham hill and engaging in a thrilling battle to the line. It looked like he might have to settle for a place, but the old boy dug deep and rolled back the years in brilliant style, getting his head in front to win by a length and a half.

A fantastic ride, a brave effort from the horse, and a win that means a lot to everyone in the yard. Well done to all connections!

Earlier in the Day – Scots Poet

Earlier in the afternoon, we ran Scots Poet in the 2:48. He was travelling well and looked to be coming into the race at a crucial stage when he unfortunately came down two out. Thankfully, early reports are that he’s fine, which is the most important thing. Up to that point, he showed promise and travelled sweetly—there’ll be other days for him.

That wraps up a fantastic 24 hours for the stable. We’ve got a few quieter days now until Thursday, but be sure to keep an eye on our social media for updates on upcoming runners and yard news.

Thank you for the continued support—and congratulations again to the team behind Cracking Destiny!
