Encouraging Signs Ahead of Luminaries’ Return

Luminaries returns to action today, and while his recent form figures may not immediately catch the eye, they don’t tell the full story. On his latest outing, he travelled strongly for a long way and shaped with plenty of encouragement before just getting tired in the closing stages. It was a run that suggested there’s still plenty there, and one that should bring him on nicely from a fitness perspective.

Since that run, he has been pleasing the team at home, showing good energy in his work and giving the impression that he is building back towards his best. Importantly, the handicapper has continued to ease his mark, which is gradually putting him in a more competitive position. Combined with the benefit of race fitness now improving with each outing, the conditions are beginning to look more favourable for him.

There’s no doubt we’d like to start seeing a bit more of his old spark on the track, but the signs behind the scenes have been encouraging. Confidence remains that he retains the ability we’ve seen in the past, and it’s now about translating that back onto the racecourse.

Tactically, the approach today will be straightforward. Sean will keep things simple, allowing Luminaries to find his own rhythm and travel comfortably within himself. If he can settle into the race and build momentum at the right time, we’re hopeful he can take a step forward and begin to show a return to the level of form we know he is capable of.
