Race Preview – Newcastle Runners

We have three runners representing Ewan Whillans Racing today, all heading to Newcastle on what promises to be a fantastic day of racing.

3:15 – Team Player
Team Player lines up in the Northumberland Plate, one of the most competitive races on the calendar. Preparation has gone smoothly, with all the right boxes ticked in the lead-up to today. It’s a deep and competitive field, but he heads into the race in great order. Greg knows the horse well and understands how to ride him, so we’ll be leaving things largely in his hands. A placing in a race of this nature would be a phenomenal result for everyone involved.

4:58 – Sure And Stedfast
Sure And Stedfast comes into this in good form. The surface is a slight unknown, which adds a small question mark, but we’re hopeful he’ll handle it well. He was unfortunate to bump into a strong rival last time out, but if he takes to conditions as expected, we’d like to see him travelling strongly, following the leaders, and finishing his race off well.

4:58 – Billy Bathgate
Billy Bathgate makes his return following a busy winter campaign. He’s been showing encouraging signs at home, but it’s likely he will come on for the run today. This outing should set him up nicely for the weeks ahead, and any positive showing will be a bonus.
