Two Wins in Two Days for The Farming Boys as Luminaries Shines at Kelso

Hot on the heels of Zephlyn’s impressive victory yesterday, the momentum continued for The Farming Boys and trainer Ewan Whillans, as Luminaries stormed to a thrilling win at Kelso in the 3:23 today.

Having already landed a hat-trick earlier in the season, many might have thought Luminaries had done his bit for the campaign—but he had other ideas. Despite drifting in the market from an early 10/1 out to 16/1, the team remained hopeful, especially with a step up in trip and conditions to suit.

Ridden with supreme confidence by top jockey Sean Quinlan, Luminaries was held up towards the rear before making smooth headway three fences from home. Sean judged the pace perfectly, moving into second at the final fence before asking for everything in the closing stages. Responding gamely, Luminaries found plenty to edge out the 15/8 favourite by a neck, securing an unforgettable win.

That’s four victories this season for Luminaries and an impressive 21st win of the year for the yard—a testament to the team’s hard work and consistency.

We’re delighted with how the horses are running and look forward to keeping up the momentum with our runners this week.
