Blakey Boy Set for Kelso Test in 3:13

We have just the one runner today as Blakey Boy heads to Kelso his afternoon for the 3:13, with Peter Kavanagh taking the ride, and there’s plenty of reason to head into the race with quiet confidence.

He comes into this contest on the back of a solid recent run and, importantly, has come out of that race in great order. The team have been really pleased with how he’s been at home since, showing plenty of enthusiasm in his work and giving every indication that he’s holding his form well.

Blakey Boy does find himself 4lb out of the handicap today, which is never ideal, but it’s something we feel he’s capable of overcoming given his current wellbeing and attitude. He’s a straightforward type who tends to give you everything he’s got, and in races like this that can count for plenty.

Conditions should play to his strengths too. The ground looks suitable, and Kelso is a track that should suit his style of racing, allowing him to get into a nice rhythm and travel comfortably through the contest.

With a positive ride from Peter and a bit of luck in running, Blakey Boy goes there with a genuine chance. It looks a competitive race on paper, as you’d expect, but we’re hopeful he can put in a bold showing and be right there when it matters.
