Captain Ivan heads to Perth

We’ve just the one runner today as Captain Ivan lines up in the 3.40 at Perth, with Craig Nichol in the saddle.

He seems in good order at home, and we’re hoping for a better showing this time. Last run didn’t quite go to plan — he was dropped back in trip, which didn’t really suit, and a couple of mistakes over his fences didn’t help his cause.

Today he steps up to 3 miles for the first time in our colours. It’s a bit of an unknown, as he’s only run over 2½ for us so far, but if he gets into a rhythm, jumps well, and enjoys himself, there’s every chance he could be in the mix. The blinkers are back on too, which have worked for him before, so hopefully they sharpen him up.

It would be great to see him bounce back and sneak into a place. Fingers crossed for a big run from Ivan!
