Trainer’s Thoughts – Luminaries Makes His Chasing Debut
This evening we’re represented by Luminaries in the 7.00 at Sedgefield, with Craig Nichol taking the ride.
It’s a big day for him as he makes his first start over fences. Credit must go to Hayley, who has done some excellent work with him at home – he’s schooled well, but as with any horse having their first go over the larger obstacles, he may still show a touch of inexperience on the track.
The plan is for Craig to let him find his rhythm, give him time to get a feel for the fences, and then look to work his way into the race. From what we’ve seen at home, the trip and track should suit him nicely, and if he can transfer his hurdle ability to fences, there’s every chance he could run a big race.
Realistically, we’d be very happy to see him get a good, safe round under his belt and build from there – a place would be a lovely starting point. But with his ability, if everything clicks, a win isn’t out of the question.
