Musselburgh Runners – Final Team Outing Before Christmas
Today sees our final runners for Ewan Whillans Racing before the Christmas break, with a small but competitive team heading to Musselburgh. As always, we’re looking forward to seeing how they fare on the track before giving both horses and staff a well-earned festive breather.
1.08 Musselburgh – Scots Poet
Jockey: Craig Nichol
Scots Poet comes into this contest in good form at home, and we’re pleased with how he’s been shaping up. He should stay the trip well, although this is undoubtedly a very hot race with plenty of depth. He ran well last time out and has shown enough to suggest he could get himself into a handy position and possibly pinch a bit of pace. That said, he would likely need to produce a career-best performance to come out on top, but we head there hopeful of another solid run.
2.38 Musselburgh – Luminaries
Jockey: Sean Quinlan
Luminaries returns over hurdles, having not quite taken to life over the larger obstacles. This looks a more suitable route for him, but there are a couple of concerns. He’s had a long season, and it’s possible that he may now be due a break, while the ground could also be on the soft side for him. That said, he’s there to take his chance, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the season has just caught up with him at this stage.
2.38 Musselburgh – Lizzie Luna
Jockey: Craig Nichol
Lizzie Luna has been pleasing us at home and arrives here in good form. There are still question marks over the trip, but she seemed to be crying out for further last time out, which gives us encouragement. Today should tell us a bit more, and we’re hopeful she can put in a positive performance.
Festive Thanks
Finally, we’d like to wish good luck to all connections today. As we head into the Christmas period, we want to say a huge thank you to our staff, supporters, owners, and everyone involved in the operation. It’s been a fantastic year for the yard, and we’re extremely grateful for the continued support.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and we look forward to coming back refreshed after the festive break.
