One Runner for Ewan Whillans Racing – Newcastle

We send just the one runner to Newcastle this afternoon with PINPOINT lining up in the 4.35, partnered by Greg Fairley.

Pinpoint has been a little disappointing in recent starts, but today looks a much more suitable opportunity as he drops into a classified contest where he has shown form at this level before. The trip holds no concerns and, if he can get into a good rhythm early and jump with fluency, he should be able to travel more comfortably throughout the race.

The application of blinkers is expected to sharpen him up and help him concentrate, and while his most recent run didn’t quite produce the result we hoped for, it was far from a bad effort and suggested he may be coming back into form. He will need to take a small step forward today, but there are definite reasons to be hopeful of a better performance.
