Race Day Blog – Two Runners This Evening

Today we have two runners heading to the track and both arrive there in good order after pleasing preparation at home.

First up is Bourbon Girl, who runs in the 4.55 at Sedgefield Racecourse with Charlie Maggs in the saddle. She has been working well at home and has also been away on the gallops recently which has helped bring her along nicely for this outing.

Pace wouldn’t necessarily be her strongest weapon, but she more than makes up for that with stamina and a tremendous attitude. She has a great heart and plenty of determination, and she’s the type who will always try for you when the pressure comes on. Today looks a good starting point for her and she should come on for the run as the season progresses. The likely plan will be to keep things fairly simple, get her travelling comfortably near the front and hopefully allow her to get into a nice rhythm. Despite the smaller field, it still looks a competitive race so she will need to run well, but we’re hopeful she can give a good account of herself.

Later on we send Zephlyn to the 6.15 at Southwell Racecourse where Jason Hart returns to the saddle. He too has been working well at home and everything has gone smoothly in his preparation. As part of getting him ready for this race he also had a gallop around Musselburgh Racecourse, which should have helped sharpen him up ahead of today.

The slight concern could be the trip as it may be a little on the short side for him, but he’s in good form and if things fall right during the race we’re hopeful he can put his best foot forward and run a solid race.

Best of luck to all connections involved and to everyone with runners today. 🏇
