Runner Preview – Showmethewayhome at Newcastle (4.50pm)

We send out Showmethewayhome today in the 4.50 at Newcastle, with Harry Russell taking the ride for the yard and our new racing club.

She was a little disappointing last time out, but to be fair, the ground was against her — she’s just not at home on softer going. Today’s return to the all-weather should be much more to her liking, as she’s run well on this surface before.

We’re also dropping her back to a mile, fitting her with a tongue tie, and adopting a change in tactics. The plan is to ride her just behind the leaders, get a bit of cover, and let her finish her race off. She stays further, so if she sees it out well, we’re hopeful of an encouraging run.

This is a bit of a fact-finding mission with her — we’re looking for signs of improvement and consistency. If she can run into the places, we’d be more than happy with that — anything more would be a real bonus.

Best of luck to all connections today.
