Sunday Runners Preview — Busy Day for the Team
We send out seven runners across both codes today, with representatives at Newcastle Racecourse and Musselburgh Racecourse. It’s a full and competitive afternoon, and we’re looking forward to seeing how they all get on.
Millbuie
🕐 1.42PM Newcastle
🏇 Dougie Costello
Millbuie returns following a wind operation and ran with promise on his most recent start. Jason felt he didn’t quite see out the trip that day, so we’ve eased him back slightly in distance. He should come forward for that run, and if the procedure has the desired effect, we’re hopeful he can be competitive. A placing would be pleasing, with scope for better if things fall right.
Billy Bathgate
🕑 2.12PM Newcastle
🏇 Dougie Costello
Billy continues to perform well in the All-Weather Bonus series and will again be ridden positively. The aim is to secure further points, but he certainly has the ability to go very close if everything clicks. He’s in good form at home and we expect another solid performance.
Desert Quest
🕒 3.12PM Newcastle
🏇 Doug ie Costello
Desert Quest makes his return from injury. He’s done plenty of work at home but hasn’t had the benefit of an away gallop, so today will tell us a lot about where he is fitness-wise. He has run well fresh in the past and, while he’s sure to improve for the outing, he could still put up a respectable showing.
Dublinofficecallin
🕐 1.50PM Musselburgh
🏇 Peter Kavanagh
This looks a competitive race, but he will be ridden positively. He jumps well and put in a solid performance at Catterick after not enjoying conditions at Ayr. A top-four finish would represent a very good run. In time, we feel he’ll be seen to best effect when sent over fences.
Mischief Millie
🕑 2.20PM Musselburgh
🏇 Craig Nichol
Mischief Millie was disappointing last time but continues to please us at home. She needs to translate that work onto the racecourse today. We’re hoping for a much-improved effort and signs that she can reproduce her home form under race conditions.
Georgie’s Malt
🕑 2.20PM Musselburgh
🏇 Gallum Benley
Georgie’s Malt may benefit from this run after a short break and would ideally prefer slightly better ground. A finish in the first three would be very encouraging, and anything better would be a bonus. He’s one we expect to see at his best as the ground improves later in the season.
Scots Poet
🕒 2.50PM Musselburgh
🏇 Conor O’Farrell
Scots Poet returns over hurdles and is in excellent order at home. While the ground may be on the softer side of ideal, Musselburgh’s surface isn’t particularly testing. He’s fresh, well, and looks our strongest chance of the day if everything goes smoothly.
We wish the best of luck to all connections and to everyone attending today.
