Three Runners Back in Action Today

We’re back in action today with three runners across two meetings, and it’s great to have a busy afternoon ahead.

🏇 3.12 Newcastle – Zephlyn & Billy Bathgate

Both Zephlyn and Billy Bathgate line up in the same race at Newcastle, making it an interesting contest for us.

Billy Bathgate goes into the race in good form and deserves his chance at this higher level. It’s certainly a competitive heat, but he’s there on merit and we’re hopeful he can continue progressing. An added incentive today is the All-Weather bonus, and picking up further points would be another positive step for him.

Zephlyn is a horse who typically improves with racing and tends to take a bit of time to reach peak fitness. He may just need this run again, so today is very much about seeing improvement from his last start. If he shows that forward step, it would give us plenty to look forward to heading into the winter campaign, where we feel he could have a productive time.

🏇 3.20 Catterick – Dublinofficecallin

At Catterick, Dublinofficecallin runs in the 3.20 with Craig Nichol onboard.

He’s a nice horse who hasn’t been with us for very long but has shown encouraging signs at home. Today’s race should give us a clearer idea of the best route forward — whether we look to go over hurdles next or continue in bumpers for the time being.

It’s a competitive field, including a couple of Irish-trained runners, so we’re keeping expectations realistic. If he can finish third or fourth behind those, we’d consider that a very solid effort. Above all, we’re looking for a clear round and for him to show us some ability on the track that mirrors what we’ve been seeing at home.
