Runners at Hexham Today

We’re heading to Hexham today with a few runners and go there hopeful of some solid performances.

Scot Poet looks to have a good chance. With Sean Quinlan onboard , He’s in great form and has already run well twice around Hexham, a track that clearly suits him. The forecast is beginning to improve, which plays to his advantage—he needs the rain to stay away. He is carrying plenty of weight, which isn’t ideal, but he’s dropped in grade and should be competitive if things fall right.

Topkapi Star is a potential runner with Peter Kavanagh onboard but a final decision will be made after we’ve seen how the ground rides in the first race. Her wellbeing is our top priority—she’s had a leg injury in the past, so we’ll only run her if we’re confident conditions are safe.

She can be a bit keen, as we saw last time out, but she typically enjoys these stiffer tracks. With a small field today and a low racing weight, she could be dangerous if things fall into place. She’s got a nice summer holiday lined up after this, so we’re hoping she can sign off with another win.

It’s a tight card with only five runners per race, so anything can happen. We go there with a couple of solid each-way chances and hopefully something more.

Best of luck to all connections and everyone making the trip today!
