Ewan Whillans’ passion for racing runs deep, starting his career as a professional jockey before transitioning to training to stay involved in the sport he loves.

With years of experience in the saddle, he understands what it takes to prepare a horse for success, combining a hands-on approach with expert horsemanship.

Now training from his dual-purpose yard in the Scottish Borders, Ewan applies his knowledge, dedication, and attention to detail to get the best out of every horse, making him the ideal choice for owners looking for a trainer who truly knows the game inside and out.

Meet the Team

  • Hayley Dryden

    Formerly with William Amos and Katie Scott. Hayley has been with us for over 6 year. She does everything from driving to the races to Helping with medical advice.

  • Gavin Scott

    Gavin has been with us around 15 years on and off - Helping with anything around the yard, has eagle eye on operations from the ground to make sure all operations run smoothly

  • Alasdair Clark

    Alasdair has been with us as a school leaver and now in his 40s Alasdair has become a part of the stable with his dedication through the years. Has a special talent for difficult horses

  • Rebecca Gray

    Rebecca has been back with us for around a year now after going of to Dubai and gaining valuable experience working with Godolphin and working at Newmarket and using that expericne when riding out for us.

  • Sam Leach

    Sam is another valuable member of the team with extensive experience, has been with us over 6 years also. Formerly with Sue Smith, She is our expert at breaking in aswell as any other job you could think of!

  • Craig Wylie

    Craig was previously a Travelling Head-lad for Martin and David Pipe, 27 years working for them he brings his extensive knowledge and experience to the team
